Tom Meek of Clay Center, Susan Metzger of Manhattan and Ryan Miller of Cimarron were presented the Honorary Kansas FFA Degree at the 89th Kansas State FFA Convention on the Kansas State University campus on Thursday, June 1.

Meek recently retired from his position as a conservation district manager in 2016. He has served as the chairman for the Kansas Envirothon for the past three years. The Envirothon serves as the qualifying contest for the National FFA Environmental Science and Forestry CDEs. He has been instrumental in getting FFA members involved in outdoor education days, water quality training for elementary students, and attending the state range camp.

Metzger is the assistant secretary for the Kansas Department of Agriculture, where she serves farmers and ranchers across the state and prioritizes the needs of Kansas agriculture. She helped lead the effort to create the state’s Vision for the Future of Water Supply in Kansas, and has engaged FFA state officers and other leaders in discussions about water conservations. In addition, Metzger has helped develop the water conservation Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) project for Kansas FFA.

Miller is the FFA advisor and agricultural education teacher at Cimarron High School in Cimarron. He also serves as president of the Kansas Association of Agricultural Educators Board of Directors.
