Marion-Florence FFA Member Wins Prepared Public Speaking Contest

Cassie Meyer, from the Marion-Florence FFA chapter, was announced as the winner of the Kansas FFA Prepared Public Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE) at the 91st  Kansas FFA Convention, May 29–31, 2019, on the Kansas State University campus.

Members must submit a manuscript and bibliography, present a 6- to 8-minute speech, and answer questions about their selected speech topic in this LDE contest. Meyer’s speech was titled, “Where’s the Food?”

As the state Prepared Public Speaking LDE winner, Meyer has the opportunity to represent Kansas at the 2019 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Other finalists include: Emily Swiger, Coffeyville FFA, second place; Lauren Simmons, Washington County FFA, third place; and Jacob Shephard, Arkansas City FFA, fourth place.

This award is sponsored by the Kansas FFA Alumni.
