Hoxie FFA Member Wins Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest

Andrew Foote, from the Hoxie FFA chapter, was announced the winner of the Kansas FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE) at the 91st Kansas FFA Convention, May 29–31, 2019, on the Kansas State University campus.

This LDE challenges members to present on a current agricultural issue after only 30 minutes of preparation. Foote’s speech focused on “the positive and negative impacts agriculture facilities have on nearby communities.”

By winning at the state level, Foote is eligible to compete in the National Extemporaneous Speaking LDE at the 2019 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Elizabeth Sturgis, Riverton FFA, placed second; Zoe Auld, Clay Center  FFA, placed third; and Grace Roth, Blue Valley FFA, placed fourth.
