MANHATTAN, Kan. – Chantelle Simon, from the Hill City FFA Chapter, completed her term as State FFA Treasurer after helping lead the 87th Kansas FFA Convention May 27-­29, on the Kansas State University campus. Simon represented more than 8,850 Kansas FFA members during her 2014­-2015 term.

After being elected State FFA Treasurer in May 2014, Simon traveled across the state sharing her passion for leadership, service and agriculture. She was one of six officers who presented workshops and speeches challenging high school students to serve their community in the spirit of this year’s convention theme, “Go all out!”

“I feel truly honored and blessed to have served as a Kansas FFA State Officer,” said Simon. “I traveled to many places and met many people who inspired me to serve harder, enjoy the ride and love our great organization. I would not trade this experience for anything.”

Simon marked the completion of her year of service by presenting her retiring address titled “Undoubtedly Me” at the opening session of the convention, Wednesday, May 27.

Simon will be a sophomore at Kansas State University and is majoring in Agricultural Communications and Journalism.

Her team included: President Taylor Green, Southeast of Saline Chapter; Vice President Bethany Schifferdecker, Girard Chapter; Secretary Jeffrey Hadachek, Republic County Chapter; Reporter Kyle Apley, Blue Valley Chapter; and Sentinel Nicholas Meyer, Marion Chapter.

Simon is the daughter of Tim and Desiree’ Simon. Her advisor is Larry Lyder.
