The Labette County FFA chapter was recognized for earning first place in the Marketing Plan Career Development Event (CDE) during the 91st Kansas FFA Convention, May 29–31, 2019, on the Kansas State University campus.

The Marketing Plan CDE is designed to assist students with developing practical skills in the marketing process through the development and presentation of a marketing plan. Students research and present a marketing plan for an agricultural product, supply or service.

Labette County FFA won first place with their team and they presented the results of research that provides a reasonable and logical solution to a marketing problem. Team members on the first place team consisted of: Taya Maxson, Claire Carnahan and Emma Brown. Their chapter advisors are Dustin Wiley, Jeff Falkenstien, Kyle Zwahlen and Keith Geren. Mission Valley FFA received second place.

As a state winner, the first-place Labette County team is eligible to represent the Kansas FFA Association in the Marketing Plan CDE at the fall 2019 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
