Kansas FFA Elects 2017–18 State Officers

The 2017–18 Kansas FFA Officer team includes President Eli Ohlde, Clifton-Clyde FFA; Vice President John Kennedy, Jackson Heights FFA; Secretary Marie Reveles, Hays FFA; Treasurer Quentin Umphenour, Jayhawk-Linn FFA; Reporter Riley Sleichter, Abilene FFA; and Sentinel Skyler Denio, Hoxie FFA.

PresidentA five-year FFA member, Ohlde has served as president of both his chapter as well as the North Central District. His Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program is caring for a small herd of eight Angus cows and the upkeep of 300 acres of pasture. He plans to attend K-State and hopes to pursue a career in agricultural equipment sales.

Ohlde is the son of Tim and Debra Ohlde. His advisor is Arika Haresnape.

Vice President–A four-year FFA member, Kennedy has served as the president of his chapter, as well as the secretary for the Northeast District. His Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program is landscape management, where he is the groundskeeper for three local cemeteries. He plans to attend K-State with hopes of becoming a high school agricultural education instructor.

Kennedy is the son of Kelly and Kim Kennedy. His advisor is Paul Lierz.

SecretaryA four-year FFA member, Reveles has served as president of both her chapter and the Northwest District. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program involves working at the Smoky Hill Country Club. She plans to attend K-State and become a high school agricultural education instructor.

Reveles is the daughter of Javier and LaVerna Reveles. Her advisor is Curt Vajnar.

Treasurer– A four-year FFA members, Umphenour has served as the president of his chapter, as well as the sentinel for the East Central District. His Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program has three areas: diversified livestock production, agriculture education and wildlife management.  He plans to attend K-State and obtain a degree in agriculture education before becoming a high school agricultural education instructor.

Umphenour is the son of Bret and Katie Umphenour. His advisor is Brett Brownback.

ReporterA four-year FFA member, Sleichter has served as the president of his chapter, as well as the reporter for the North Central District. His Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program is beef entrepreneurship, where he owns five breeding females, one yearling heifer and five calves. He plans to attend K-State to obtain a degree that will allow him to develop more sustainable agricultural practices.

Sleichter is the son of Jeff and Meredith Sleichter. His advisors are Theresa Jardine and Amanda West.

Sentinel– A four-year FFA member, Denio has served as Chapter President and Northwest District Vice President. Her Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program involves her work at the Hoxie Veterinary Service as a kennel and veterinary assistant. She plans to attend K-State and major in agriculture education to teach in the state of Kansas.

Skyler is the daughter of Hessel and Lisa Anderson. Her advisor is Jessica Reeves.
