Ellsworth FFA team members were recognized for placing first in the state Chapter Initiative Program at the third session of the 90th Kansas FFA State Convention, May 30–June 1, 2018, on the Kansas State University campus.

This is the inaugural competition for the Chapter Initiative Program. The Chapter Initiative Program focuses on the three-circle model of agricultural education: FFA, Supervised Agricultural Experience and classroom education. Chapters completed challenges that pushed them to highlight each circle, including writing news articles, giving SAE presentations, and participating in service projects.

“We enjoyed leading the chapters in this new initiative program, with a focus on the three circles that make up ag education,” said Skyler Denio, State Sentinel. “As an added bonus, winning chapters earned grants to help with improvements to the program.”

The Ellsworth FFA chapter was awarded first place in the Chapter Initiative Program. Blue Valley placed second, and Marysville FFA received third. The grants awarded to these chapters were made possible by the program sponsor, Kansas Corn.
